To open up the Museum of Health Care’s artefact collection we are participating in WordPress’ Weekly Photo Challenge. Based on WordPress’ randomly chosen themes, we’ll offer a serendipitous peek into our collection. Check in each week for a new curiosity.

This week’s theme, faces, is illustrated with Louis Niclet’s moulages from the early 20th century. Moulages are wax models made to capture anatomical details and used as teaching tools. This series depicts some effects of syphilis, a treatable disease that has seen a resurgence in the last decade.
